With the tremendous growth of I.C.T. (Information and Communication Technology) since past 10 years, nothing left untouched with it. All the successful organisations flourished and contributed enormously to the world just because that they managed to use I.C.T. effectively. The school meant to be one of the most responsible organisation, it cannot be away from I.C.T.
The school uses I.C.T. for both Administrative work and in Learning-Teaching process (here, we changed traditionally used word “Teaching-Learning” into “Learning-Teaching” as we believe that, learning comes first and then teaching).
In this journey, we initiated gathering information like “Students Absentee Report”, “Students Inappropriate Behavior”, “Students Special Progress” and “Daily Observations” with the help of android app – “Kobo Collect” which is powered with ODK (Open Data Kit).
This benefitted us mostly, now we are getting daily updates of each student. We are getting soft copy of all the minute observations made by class teacher. This is helping us in analyzing students behavior and ultimately correcting their inappropriate behaviour.
What is ODK?
Open Data Kit (ODK) is a free and open-source set of tools which help organizations author, field, and manage mobile data collection solutions. ODK provides an out-of-the-box solution for users to:
- Build a data collection form or survey (XLSForm is recommended for larger forms);
- Collect the data on a mobile device and send it to a server; and
- Aggregate the collected data on a server and extract it in useful formats.
