π¨ 20. Animation using Wick Editor
π¬ Ready to create your own short animation? π Today, we’re going to use Wick Editor to make a fun animation of a bee. Let’s start this creative adventure!
π₯οΈ Step 1: Set Up Your Animation π¨
- Open Wick Editor: Start by opening the Wick Editor program on your computer.
- Check the Settings Panel: First, look at the settings panel. This is where you can change the background color (let’s make it blue like the sky), adjust the size, and set the frames per second. Click ‘Apply’ when you’re done.
π³ Step 2: Rename Your Layer π¨
- Click on ‘Layer’: Find the ‘Layer’ option and click on it.
- Rename the Layer: Name this layer as “Background.” This is where you’ll draw your scene.
π¨ Step 3: Draw the Background ποΈ
- Use the Brush Tool: Select the brush tool to start drawing. You can change the brush color to green for the grass.
- Adjust Brush Size: Change the size of the brush. You can use the square bracket keys as shortcuts or move the slider to make the brush bigger or smaller.
- Fill in Color: Now, color in your background. Just move the brush around to fill it with green for grass.
π¨ Step 4: Create a New Layer for Your Bee π
- Add a New Layer: Click to add a new layer above the background layer.
- Rename the Layer: Name this new layer something like “Bee.”
π€ Step 5: Upload and Add Your Bee πΈ
- Upload Bee Asset: If you have a picture of a bee, upload it to your library in Wick Editor.
- Drag the Bee to the Scene: Once uploaded, drag your bee image onto the scene in the new layer.
π Step 6: Animate Your Bee π¬
- Create a Separate Timeline: Click on ‘Make Clip’ for your bee. This creates a separate timeline just for the bee’s animation.
- Edit the Timeline: Go into ‘Edit Timeline’ for the bee.
- Add New Frames: Add a new frame and drag in the second picture of the bee if you have one.
- Position the Bee: Adjust the beeβs position slightly in each new frame.
π₯ Step 7: Animate Movement π
- Use Twinning: Add ‘Twin’ and keyframes to create movement. Wick Editor will automatically generate the frames in between.
- Resize and Reposition: You can resize, reposition, and rotate the bee in each frame.
- Extend the Background: Make sure your background layer is extended to cover the entire animation.
π Step 8: Watch Your Animation πΊ
- Play Your Animation: Once you’ve added all your frames, play your animation to see the bee move.
- Make Adjustments: If needed, go back and adjust any frames or add more movements.
π Conclusion π
- You Did It! Great job! You’ve just created a short animation in Wick Editor.
- Keep Experimenting: Try adding more frames or other characters to your animation.
